Motion Picture and Television Director, Screenwriter. He will probably be best remembered for writing and directing the political satire film "The President's Analyst" (1967), which starred James Coburn. Additionally, he is noted for being the co-creator and main scriptwriter for the TV series "Barney Miller" (1975 to 1982). Born Theodore Jonas Flicker, he attended Admiral Farragut Academy in New Jersey and later studied Drama at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). He went on to became a member of Chicago's noted Compass Theater. In 1964, he marked his motion picture directing debut with the comedy film, "The Troublemaker", which he co-wrote with Buck Henry and during the decade, he regularly directed TV episodes for such programs as "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "I Dream of Jeannie". Additionally, he co-wrote the screenplay for the Elvis Presley picture "Spinout" (1966) and contributed stories to the Rod Serling series "Night Gallery".
