In 1975, Beverly and her family moved to St. Paul, MN due to Perry's job transfer. Beverly worked at Southview Acres Health Care Center as a nurse coordinator and was responsible for the opening of a new skilled floor at the center. Beverly was diagnosed with breast cancer in the summer of 1977 and underwent a radical mastectomy and radiation treatments. Her cancer temporarily went into remission.
In August of 1979, Beverly moved to Albany, NY with her husband and one son. Her son John stayed behind in St. Paul. Beverly's cancer reappeared and had spread to her spine. Beverly underwent radiation and chemotherapy to combat the cancer and allowed her to live a reasonably happy life. Due to her failing health, she was no longer able to continue her nursing career but instead worked at a nearby school serving lunches to the children. She thoroughly enjoyed this job and looked forward to it every day.
In 1982, Beverly moved with her husband to Vienna, VA. Both children were now out of the home. Due to failing health, she was confined to a wheelchair and underwent a number of medical treatments. On August 21, 1983 she passed away in her sleep. Beverly is buried in Cando, ND, beside her parents and younger brother Robert.
