Margaret Frances Harrell (Moon), 88, of 257 Creeks Bank Road, Hurt, Virginia, left us peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2014. She was the wife of the late James Cocke Moon, Sr.She was born September 4, 1926 in Greene County, NC, daughter of the late John Lewis Harrell and Mary Elizabeth Ormond Harrell. Frances retired as a Nurse, working well over 50 years in her profession at Lynchburg General Hospital, Virginia Baptist Hospital, Central Virginia Training Center and private duty. She raised five children, provided loving care to her late husband, and was always available to assist anyone in need. She attended Monte Vista Baptist Church and was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church. Frances enjoyed writing short stories, storytelling, reading, crocheting, embroidering and most of all taking care and supporting her family.Frances is survived by five children, two daughters, Mary E. Sites of Indian Land, SC and Frances "Lee" Elliott and her husband Troy of Rustburg; three sons, James C. Moon, Jr., William P. "Bill" Moon, III and his wife Julie, and Henry L. Moon and his wife Laurel, all of Hurt; a sister, Lillie H. Deaner of Lynchburg; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews; a special canine companion Kasper; and in her declining days a special friend and caregiver Tammy Anderson. She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Trinity Burks; a sister, Mary "Eleanor" White; and a brother, John L. Harrell, Jr.A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2014 at Finch & Finch Chapel in Altavista by the Rev. Ronald Litten, with interment to follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg. The family will receive friends at Finch & Finch one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence.The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider Centra Hospice, 3300 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503, or Altavista EMS, P.O.
