Muriel Anderson was born on July 7, 1917, at Larimore; the daughter of Gustav and Jessie (Porter) Larson. She received Holy Baptism and confirmed her Christian faith in the Lutheran Church. She was raised and grew to womanhood at Larimore where she attended and graduated from Larimore High School in May of 1934. She then attended Mayville State Teacher's College. Muriel was united in marriage to Svend Anderson on April 6, 1941, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Larimore. After marriage, the couple lived on the Andersen Family Farm west of Larimore from 1941 to 1963; when they moved to Larimore. Muriel then returned to Mayville State College, where she received her BA in Education in August of 1967. Muriel taught in area schools near Larimore. She later taught at Larimore Elementary School for 35 years, 20 of those years as the special reading teacher. Mr. Anderson preceded her in death on February 6, 1991. She continued to make her home in Larimore. Muriel became a resident of the Larimore Good Samaritan Center on February 16, 1999, where she had lived since. Muriel was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and Ladies' Aid of rural Larimore, the Moraine Township Homemakers Club, Larimore Moraine Homemakers Club, and the Larimore Tuesday Study Club.

Muriel is survived by a niece, Mary Barrett, Fergus Falls, MN; a nephew, William (Alice) Barrett, Tulsa, OK; and special friends Larry and Patsy Wagner, Larimore.

Muriel died on December 6, 2001 at the Larimore Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services were held on December 10, 2001 from Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Larimore, with the Rev. Renee MacLeod officiating. Music selections were provided by Dolores Mutch as organist with Kevin Nelson as soloist. Casket bearers were Cory Kosterman, Jared Meek, Allen Peterson, Lyndel Smith, Rodney Wagner and Ed Georgeson. Interment was held in the Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.

Muriel was preceded in death by her husband Svend and her parents.
