Svend Anderson was born Dec. 31, 1909 in Moraine Township, rural Larimore, ND the son of Jorgen and Marie Mortensen Anderson. He received Holy Baptism and confirmed his Christian faith at Bethel Lutheran Church, rural Larimore, ND. He was raised and grew to manhood in Moraine Township. Svend received his public education in Moraine Township Rural School No. 3 and also attended Hanson Mechanic and Aviation school in Fargo, ND.
Svend was united in marriage to Muriel Larson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Larimore, ND on April 6, 1941. He was a self employed farmer until 1967. He then was employed at the Jarman & Shide IHC, Co. Larimore and Trosen Implement, Larimore, in electronics and small appliances, retiring in 1980. The couple lived on the family farm until moving into Larimore in 1963, where they have lived since.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he served as treasurer for 25 years. He was a member of the Larimore Lions Club, Larimore Senior Citizens, Larimore Senior Bowling League and a member of the Grand Forks Elks Lodge #255. He was also a member of the Moraine Township Board for many years.
Svend passed away Feb. 6, 1991 at United Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services were held on Feb. 9, 1991 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Larimore, ND with interment in Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, ND.
At time of death he was survived by his wife, Muriel, of Larimore; sister, Thyra Anderson Barrett of Fergus Falls, MN; niece, Mary Barrett of Excelsior, MN; and nephew, William Barrett and his wife Alice of Liberal, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Erhardt and sister Erna.
