William F. England Sr., of Plainville, where he has lived since 1958, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was 86.
Born in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Frederick and Catherine (Foster) England. Educated in Cambridge, he served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He worked for many years as a typesetter for Wrightson Brothers in Boston, retiring in 1988. An avid golfer, he was a formerly active in the Boy Scouts, Troop 46, Plainville.
Husband of the late Mabel (Watkins) England, he is the father of William F. England Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Lynchburg, VA, and Mark England and his wife Frances of Plainville. Brother of Frederick England Jr. of Middleboro, Dorothy McSheffery of Somerville, Catherine Lydon of Cambridge, Marie England of Cambridge, and Shirley Batchelder of Billerica. Grandfather of Rebecca, Joshua, Andrew, and Chuckie England, Tina Wall, and Sahra Johnson. Also survived by 1 great-grandson Gabriel England.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Route 1A, Wrentham Centre, on Sunday, February 8, from 4-7 PM. His Funeral Service will be on Monday at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Plainville Cemetery.
