Richard E. Greiwe passed away on December 30, 2014. He was born to Harry and Marie Greiwe on July 11, 1918 in St. Paul, MN. He moved to Tacoma with his parents in 1920 where he attended St. Patrick’s School and graduated from Bellarmine Preparatory School. Richard also attended Seattle University and graduated from the University of the Air in Corpus Christi, Texas as a pilot in the Navy in 1942. He served in the Navy (active duty) from 1941 until 1945 in Puerto Rico, Cuba, Africa and England. He was awarded several air medals during his service. He retired from the Navy Reserve in 1968 and from Boeing in 1980.
Richard met and married his wife of 59 years, Evelyn in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and a former member of Holy Cross Catholic Church for 34 years.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Evelyn. He is survived by his children, Patricia E. Greiwe (Dale Kelley), Gail-Ann (Jonathan) Levant, Richard E. Greiwe Jr, Barbara A. (Lynn) Pfeiffer, D. Randolph (Suzy) Greiwe; siblings, William Greiwe, and Paul Greiwe; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 9:00am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church followed by a reception at the church. Inurnment at Tahoma National Cemetery.
