Enlisted, April 30, 1917, in Troop A, Squadron A Cavalry, in New York City. Squadron A reorganized for the World War, as the 105th Machine Gun Battalion, 27th Division. He was assigned to Company A, and saw combat in both Belgium & France. Wounded in action ( gassed ), Sept. 26, 1918 at the battle of the Hindenburg Line. Returning to the States, March 6, 1919, docking at Hoboken, NJ. He marched in the " Welcome Home Parade ", for the 27th Division, March 25, 1919, up 5th Avenue, in New York City. Discharged from the Army, April 1, 1919, Camp Upton, NY.
Awarded the Silver Star, order # S. O. 86, 27th Division, " For exceptional courage and determination during the battle of the Hindenburg Line while in command of a gun team. Although gassed on September 26, he remained at his gun until he collapsed on September 29, 1918. "
Post War service, 51st Machine Gun Squadron ( Squadron A )New York City , April 1923 , till March 26, 1926.

Occupation, Silk Manufacturer, Stewart Silk Co. 260 4th Ave., NY, NY, later farmer, Holmdel, NJ.
