Howard Sidney Eddy, 79, died Wednesday morning in gifford Memorial Hospital, Randolph, following a short illness. He was born March 27, 1891 in Huntington, the son of William L. and Anna (Ashline) Eddy. He attended school in Huntington. He married Lois Hutchinson of Braintree on Nov 8, 1916. Mr. Eddy was a farmer in Braintree until 1923, when he moved to Dairy Hill in South Royalton and became farm manager for the Morman Church farm. In 1948 he began his 10 year employment with Eaton, Eaton & Co. sawmill. He worked for the town of Rayalton from 1958 until his retirement in 1962. Mrs. Eddy died Jan 14, 1966. Mr. Eddy lived with his son, Stephen and family for the last year. He is survived by five sons, Stephen of Royalton; Russell of Peterborough, NH; Douglas of Pittsfield, MA; David of Bethel and Wallace of South Royalton; six daughters, Mrs. Rachel Blair of East Longmeadow, MA; Mrs. Wilson (Alta) Walker of Nicholls, GA; Mrs. Wayne (Mary) Young of So. royalton; Mrs. Clinton (Norma) Burbank of Chelsea; Mrs. Everett (Laura) Young of Tunbridge and Mrs. Gordon (Kathleen) Van Orman of tyringham, MA. A son, William A. Eddy, died in 1966. there are 40 surviving grandchildren; one great granddaughter and five sisters; Mrs. Ernest Hodgdon of burlington; Mrs. Ralph Noble of Montpelier; Mrs. Lucius Lemery of Waterbury; Mrs. Keith Bissel of Napa, CA; Mrs. Donald Anthony of Fort Anne, NY; one brother, William M. Eddy of Carmel, NY and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in the East Braintree Cemetery.
