Mr. Shepherd was born in Kingman, Kansas on March 29, 1936 to the late, James and Gladys Shepherd.
Funeral services will be held at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley on Thursday, April 16th, 2015 at 11:00A.M. (EST). A graveside service will follow at 2:30P.M. (EST) at the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Rev. Bill Bryan and Rev. Darrell Young officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday at the funeral home from 6:00P.M. (EST) to 8:00P.M. (EST).
He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter-in-law, a sister and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Alton Shepherd; daughter, Tamra Yvette Shepherd.
Sarge was retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class with 21.5 years of service. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. After his retirement, he worked at Larry Jones Upholstery in Lafayette and at the Paul McClellan Scrap Yard.
