George Shauger

Rockaway , New Jersey area.
Iron Master: INSCRIPTION READS "A MAKER OF IRON IMPLEMENTS USED IN THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION."

Jonathan Robert De Mallie, Garden State Historian

"This is the cenotaph memorial marker for the family's progenitor, George Shauger with his wife Johanna at Union Cemetery in Marcella, Morris County, NJ. It was erected by Elizabeth Drake and John Rogers and dedicated on Sunday, May 27, 1956."

It is believed they were buried in a family grave at their farm on the shores of Lake Denmark, in unmarked graves in that area which is now part of the Picatinny Arsenal.

I have attached a memorial summary by John Rogers, the author of the New Jersey/New York Families book covering Allison, Davenport, Shawger (Shauger) and Wendel (Wandle.)
