Erwin died at his home. Son of Erwin George & Alma (Kalmbach) Hochrein Sr. Erwin was a Charter Member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Chelsea, where he was active as a trustee and usher, and was also on the kitchen committee and in Silver Streaks. He was a plumber his whole life, and a member of Local 190. He was a Korean War Veteran who earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart, and was a member of the American Legion in Dexter. He was also a Charter Member of the Dexter Lions. Erwin enjoyed hunting and fishing at the family cabin in Lewiston, MI. On Sunday afternoons he played softball for St. Paul Lutheran Church with other teams in the league. He was active with his sons with their Boy Scout activities and sporting events. Erwin and Barb lived in the same house since the day they were married. On June 16, 1956 he married Barbara Seitz at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, and she survives. Other survivors include three sons; 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Neil. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 23, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, with Rev. Dale Grimm officiating. Burial was at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ann Arbor. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1515 S. Main St, Chelsea, MI 48118.
