Wayne was born July 15, 1929 in Mayville, ND. He was one of ten children born to Hans and Julia Fugleberg who farmed in ND. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Corrine Rock on August 24, 1951. Eventually they settled in East Grand Forks, MN having three children. During this time he started his own construction business, Fugleberg Contracting.

After retiring they divided their time between Minnesota and Arizona. He enjoyed the company of family and friends and golfing, hunting, fishing and traveling. He had a certain appreciation for life that was evident in how he took on all of life's challenges with an unwavering inner strength. His appreciation for life could also be seen in how he truly wanted the best for others. When hearing positive news regarding others, he would always respond with, "Good for you" wanting everyone to have all the wonderful experiences life has to offer.

At the time of death he was survived by his wife of 60 years, two daughters, one son, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one sister, He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, one sister and a son-in-law Richard Zentgraf.

Following was written by Wayne for his 50th class reunion.

I was glad to be a graduate of the 1948 class. After graduation I started work in construction, of course being a laborer. I did not go to college. There probably wasn't room for me (ha, ha). Later, my occupation was General Contracting. We formed our first corporation in 1960 and added two more along the way. we built apartment housing, motels, clinics and did lots of work at the University of Grand Forks and the Grand Forks Air Base.

I went into the service for two years during the Korean Affair. Seems like they don't call it WAR anymore. But I was very lucky to be stationed in Greenland and helped build landing fields. We used to listen to Tokea Rose broadcasting what we wee doing - very secret.

I married Corrinne Rock in 1951. We had three children, Colleen, Randy and Jodi. Colleen has three children, Nicole, who graduated from Storm Lake Buena Vista; Rachella graduated at Moorhead State in Minnesota and now lives in Costa Rica; Ben lives in Minneapolis and is gong to own a Dairy Queen soon. Our son Randy lives in Grand Forks and now operates Fugleberg Construction. He has a 4 year old son, Casey. Grandma thinks he's spoiled! Our daughter Jodi lives in Moorhead and graduated from Concordia College in Minneapolis. She works in Fargo.

We built our first home in East Grand Forks, Minnesota in 1956. We moved back to Grand Forks in 1980 and still have a home there. We also have a lake home on Gull Lake in Minnesota. As we get older, we're finding there is too much grass to mow! We are spending our golden years visiting Arizona every year. We have a home in Mesa.

We have traveled to the Scandinavian Country three times. Corrinne has aunts and cousins there. We also took a cruise ship to Helsinki, Finland. It was a very beautiful harbor and had many hard-working people. I've been on four fishing trips to Alaska. There are beautiful areas there.

Corrinne has been a very dedicated wife and a good mother. She is also a very good bookkeeper. I enjoy playing golf and even had a hole-in-one once! In January of 1997 I had a hip replacement done.
