Donald L. Smith, 83, of Sylvan Beach passed away on June 20 2015, surrounded by his loving family at home. He was born on October 10, 1931 in Hermon, NY, a son of Joseph & Irene Taylor Smith. Donald married the former Dorothy Temple in 1954, she passed away in 1985. He served with the Unites States Army from 1952 to 1954 and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. Donald was employed by the NYS Fair for nearly thirty plus years, he retired in 2013. Donald was a school bus driver for the Central Square school district; he loved building clocks, wishing wells, and was a wood craftsman.
Donald is survived by one daughter, Theresa Trivison, Sylvan Beach, six grandchildren, Donald, William, Jeannie (Tibor), Donna, Genny, and Annette thirteen great grandchildren, two sisters, Elva Farze, Onondaga Hill, and Marsha, Waterloo. He was predeceased by two sons, Donald Jr. and Lawrence, one sister Helen Antzak, and four brothers Chuck, Eddie, Joseph and Elmer Smith.
Funeral Services will be held 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from the Watson Funeral Home, Central Square, NY. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 4:00-7:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the funeral home, 631 South Main Street. Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Union Settlement Cemetery, West Monroe, N.Y.
