Harvey A. Wietting Sr., 65, of Morris, died Sunday morning, May 8, 1988, in the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Born Oct. 3, 1923, in Joliet, he was a son of Albert and Lillian (Nelson) Wietting. He was educated in Joliet Schools.

On Oct. 17, 1942, he married Betty Sprague in Naperville. He farmed in the Joliet and Plainfield areas until, being a self-employed carpenter, retiring in 1987. In 1973 he moved to Goose Lake and in 1986 he moved to Morris.Surviving are his wife of Morris; five daughters, Mrs. Don (Joanne) Smiley of Plainfield, Mrs. Roger (Carol) Arns of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Ray (Nancy) Hershaft of Whitestone, N.Y., Mrs. Tom (Janet) Gilson of Peoria, Mrs. James (Judy) Long of Goose Lake; two sons, Harvey Jr. of Darien and Rick of Morris; 13 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Art (Betty Poole) Vangor of Joliet; and two brothers, Clifford of Florida and Gordon of Joliet.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Charles.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bethleham Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Skele officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
