Pauline was one of six children born to William and Annie (Schlegel) Johnson in Fullerton, Northampton County. In 1926 she married Robert E. Kauffman, an insurance agent, and they settled near Alburtis, where they raised their two children, Betty Jane (Bortz) and Russell W. Kauffman.
A longtime employee of Josh Early Candies, Pauline was a member of Lehigh Zion United Church of Christ (now the Church of the Good Shepard). During construction of the new church in 1971, she donated a large memorial window, depicting the procession of saints, in memory of her late husband, who had passed away in 1968.
She was survived by her son Russell (wife Jo Ann) as well as eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
