Residing on Damas Street in Hull, Quebec, Canada, he enlisted in the RCAF on 20 July 1939 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Son of Clara (née Bédard) Sauvé of Hull and son of the late Vital Sauvé; husband of Albanie (née Gravelle) Sauvé of Ottawa, Ontario; brother of five sisters and he was predeceased by six siblings.
He was also the maternal uncle of Guy SANCHE, who was famously known for "Bobino" in the 1950's in post-war Quebec ["Bobino" is a Quebec French language children's television show made and broadcast in Quebec.]
