Morris Ackerman (age 93)
Passed peacefully at home on July 22, 2015 from heart failure. Survived by a daughter, Suzanne Ackerman; daughter-in-law, Lesli Ackerman; granddaughter, Sierra Shoshana, and many cousins. Married for 56 years to Eleanor Rosenblum. His wife Eleanor, his son Jerry and his brother Samuel, predeceased him. Born in Washington, DC. Attended McKinley High School and Catholic University. Served in the Navy in WWII in the Philippines.Managed aerospace engineering at CAE-Link company, which built simulators for pilots and astronauts. Worked on two of the famous Apollo missions. Also a talented artist, writer, and musician, who played saxophone in big bands in the Swing era.He touched the lives of many people in a positive way. His friendliness, kindness and willingness to participate and contribute to many worthwhile community causes will be missed.Funeral Services will be held at Ohr Kodesh Congregation, 8300 Meadowbrook Lane, Chevy Chase, MD, Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Interment following at 2 p.m. at Kind David Memorial Garden, Falls Church, VA.
