Hazel Sophia Louise Burroughs was the daughter of Lorenzo Benjamin Burroughs and Mary Burroughs, nee Pfanku.

She was born on August 2, 1887 in Lone Rock, WI.

On June 26, 1907, she married Eugene Charles Fraser (1880-1947) in Richland County, WI.

Hazel was the oldest child in the Burroughs family. Her siblings included Harry D., Hattie M., Myrtle I. and Margaret. Myrtle had a twin, Merle, who died in infancy.

In the Wisconsin State Census, dated June 1, 1905, Hazel was listed as living in Lone Rock, and being a "school marm". She taught all elementary grades in a one-room school house.

Hazel and Eugene ("Gene") had two children, Donald Burroughs Fraser (1908-1987), and Marjorie Elizabeth Fraser (1913-2009).

Over the years, the family lived in several cities, including Mason City, IA, Racine, WI, and Burlington, WI, but resided primarily in Milwaukee, WI.

Hazel was a homemaker, but later in life worked for Stanley, a national home products company that sold merchandise through home party sales.

She was also a member of Washington Park Presbyterian Church and of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Milwaukee and was active in the Eastern Star, serving as Past Matron of Acadia Chapter No. 269. Other organizations of which she was a member included the Rainbow Mother's Club, Bethlehem No. 1 W.S.J., and Women's Auxiliary of Tripoli Shrine.

Her date of burial was August 8, 1981.
