George Denegre was one of the sons born to James D. Denegre and his wife Sylvania Blanc. George was employed as an attorney. He received his law degree from the University of Louisiana (Tulane University) after studying at Fordham University in New York. Geprge took an active role in the overthrowing of the carpetbag rule in New Orleans after the conclusion of the US Civil War.

George was united in marriage on October 28, 1882 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Edith Bayne. George and Edith were married for 48 years and did not have any biological. George and Edith raised his sister-in-law's children after their parents (Minna Bayne Jones in 1893 and her husband Dr. Stanhope Jones in 1894) passed away:

George passed away at the age of 75, six years before his wife Edith.
