Michael Mike Thomas Clish, age 57, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 1, 2008 at his home.

Mike was born on December 27, 1950, son of the late Clyde and Margaret (Martin) Clish in Appleton where he lived all of his life. Mike graduated from Appleton East High School in 1969. He loved fishing, hunting, training Labrador dogs and successfully participated in many field trial tournaments with his dogs, Harley and Ally. Mike was also a very successful exotic fish breeder. He will be missed by his special friends Ally, Lefty, and Radar his Labradors and Willie his cat. Mike had a great sense of humor; was a gourmet chef and an avid sheep head player. He loved being involved with the local youth baseball programs as a coach. Between Dean Kamps and himself, they started the Appleton Rebels Baseball Team in 1977. In 1981, Mike started the Babe Ruth Prep League. He served as the president of the Appleton Little League and State Commissioner of the Wisconsin Babe Ruth League. He coached thousands of youth in Babe Ruth and America Legion Baseball for more than 40 years having won numerous league championships. Mike was especially proud of his eight teams winning state tournaments; 7 in Babe Ruth and Babe Ruth World Series in 1982 and 1985. The teams missed winning two other World Series trips by 1 game. Mike will be remembered as an outstanding baseball coach. He was a successful salesman/owner operator of both Fox Valley Confections Inc. and Mega Party fundraising and entertainment businesss.

Mike will be deeply missed by his loving family: sisters; Elizabeth Elders, Oxford, AL, Patricia Van Rooy, Appleton, brothers; Gerald (Judith Susy) Clish, Menasha, and Robert (Phyllis) Clish, Harvard, IL. He is further survived by many special cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends. A funeral service for Mike will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Valley Funeral Home with Reverend Roger Bertschausen officiating. Visitation for Mike will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mikes name.
