Zada was born August 9, 1936 in Ava, MO near Basher community to George Willard and Jessie (Robertson) Purtle. She graduated with the class of 1954 from Ava High School.
Zada was a retired Supervisor from Continental Telephone Co. in Rochelle, IL and Aylett, Virginia. She worked for them for 33 years. She had began her career in communications starting in Ava with the phone company.
Zada was a Christian. She enjoyed reading, making quilts, shopping, country music, especially Waylon Jennings. Her joy was being with her family and her many nieces and nephews. Zada was known and loved and will be remembered by many as “Auntie Z!”
Zada was preceded in death by her parents, Willard & Jessie, a sister, Emily Burchell, an infant sister, Naida and brother-in-law, Newt Porter.
Zada is survived by three sisters, Naomi Porter, Squires, MO, Nettie Hicks, Ozark, MO and Nina & Butch McCleary, Ava, MO, nieces and nephews, Audrey & Norman Pierson, Barbara Porter, Dale & Carrie Porter, Charlene & Randy Vermillion, Zachary & Kathy Porter, Charley Porter, Thomas & Kathy Hicks, Sean McCleary and Kristal McCleary, several great nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Zada will be Wed., Aug. 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Fannon Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Butch McCleary and Pastor Rod Scoville. Memorials may be made to Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO or Three Rivers Hospice, Mtn. Grove, MO.
