After training at Camp Wadsworth, SC, the 105th Machine Gun Battalion deployed to Europe, on May 18, 1918, aboard the USS Calomares, from Newport News VA. Docking at St. Nazaire, France, May 30, 1918. He saw combat in both Belgium & France.
Returned to the States, March 6, 1919, aboard the USS Leviathan, docking at Hoboken, NJ. He marched in the great " Welcome Home Parade " for the 27th Division, up 5th Avenue, in New York City, on March 25, 1919. Discharged from the service, April 1, 1919, at Camp Upton, NY.

Adams of Watervliet and Mrs. Anthony Razzano of Colonie; brother of Mrs. Catherine Coyne of Albany, Harry Adams of Albany, and Edward Adams of Delmar; also survived by 13 grandchildren. Funeral from the Funeral of J. Gregory Nealon & Son, 611 Fourth Ave., Watervliet, Thursday morning at 8:15 o'clock and from Sacred Heart of Mary Church where at 9 o'clock a Solemn Requiem High Mass will be sung.
