Eleanor Mitchell was born 20 Apr 1877 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to William Bell Mitchell and Emily Whittlesey.

She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1894, and from Chicago Kindergarten School in 1901. She was a member of Kappa Gamma sorority. She worked as a teacher and a social worker. During WW I she traveled to Europe and resided there from August 1918-June 1919 visiting the Red Cross and serving as a liaison for the War Industries Board Commission and for Ford, Bacon and Davis (engineers) in New York. She traveled through France, Italy, England, Belgium, Greece and Switzerland during her stay.

Post-war, she was with the vocational guidance department in the St. Paul Department of Education and retired from this position in 1948. She was a member of the Women's City Club, St. Paul, Minn., Colonial Dames, and 1st Presbyterian Church, St. Cloud, Minn.

She was survived by the following brothers and sisters: Henry Z. Mitchell, Bemidji, Minn.; Mrs. Edmund Smith, Minneapolis; Mrs. F.D. Herbert, Upper Montclair, New Jersey; Mrs. Otto A. Poirier, Cincinnati, Ohio; Ruth Mitchell, La Jolla, Calif.; and Mrs. A.B. (Dorothy) Anderson, St. Paul, Minn.

She is buried in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, Minnesota.
