Eldred Fenner of Quidnick lost his life while bathing in the pond of the Quidnick Mill. Eldred drowned after wading into the water under the railroad bridge and then telling his friend Irving Andrew that he could not swim. Andrew went to find a plank or something for Eldred but when he returned Eldred was gone. Quidnick Mill drained the pond and Fenner's body was found an hour later. His Uncle, Dr. John Winsor. tried to revive him but all his efforts failed.
He was working as a clerk in Dr. Winsor's drugstore in Quidnick at the time.
