Services for Myrtle Ellis Monk will be held Monday December 21, 2015 10:00 AM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood, MS.

Mrs. Monk, age 85 died on Friday December 18, 2015 at Golden Age Nursing Home of heart failure.

She was born on August 24, 1930 to the late Robert William and Sarah Frances Funderburk Ellis in Blackhawk MS and resided in the Greenwood area most of her life. Mrs. Monk worked for Baldwin Piano for 15 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greenwood, VFW, Greenwood Elks Lodge, and the Ladies Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond C. Monk, and three brothers George Ellis, Albert Ellis, and James Ellis.

She is survived by two Daughters, Sara Nester of Carrollton, MS, Patricia Matson of Austin, TX, a Son, William Monk of Greenwood, MS, three Sisters, Elaine Ellis of Vaiden, MS, Bitsy Yelverton of Brandon, MS, and Mary Burgess of Pascagoula, MS, three Brothers, Charles Ellis of Vaiden, MS, Wayne Ellis of Meridian, MS, and William Ellis of Ellijay, GA, five grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday December 20, 2015 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Mark Shiers will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Marion Boggs, Bo Ellis, James Funderburk, Harold Gordin, McCoy Phillips, & Jerry Shaw. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ben Hair, and Wesley King. Burial will be in Vaiden Cemetery.
