Goldie "Irene" Cable, 81, of Glouster passed with peace and grace on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus with her family at her side.

Born May 26, 1934, in Millfield, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Nellie Mayles Phillips.

Irene was raised in Millfield, Ohio, graduated from Chauncey Dover, and moved to Glouster area as a young woman to marry the love of her life on June 29, 1952, Arthur Cable. After marrying, she threw her energies into raising their children as a stay at home wife and mother. She enjoyed the word of God, reading, music, walking, crafting, gardening, and canning. She touched the heart and soul of everyone who met her. She expressed her love through cooking, writing, planning family parties, and sewing quilts. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and whose greatest passion was family and living a simple life. She leaves us rich in memories.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Arthur George Cable of Glouster; her children, Greg (Maxine) Cable, Elaine (Dusty) Murphy, and Curt (Rhonda) Cable, all of Glouster; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry and Damon Phillips and Judy Goodpaster; and many dear friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Gabriel and Jane Reece.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville with Curt Cable and John Wright officiating. Interment will be in the Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Pearls of Wisdom:
