Perry Earl Butts was born in Martinsburg, Lewis, NY in 1883 and married Mabel Smith Max April 21, 1915. They had two children, Gwendolyn Maxine and Frederick Edward. Perry died at Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville, NY after falling accidentally through a hay loft. He was a laborer for most of his life, first in lumber, then in casket-building. His WW1 draft registration card lists him as tall, with a strong build, light brown hair and blue eyes.
