Marilyn K. Johnston, 77, died May 14, 2016 at Hospice House. She was born January 27, 1939 in Almena, KS, the daughter of Thomas and Naomi Day Thompson.

She was a graduate of Almena Rural High School and had attended Ft. Hays State University.

She was a Hutchinson resident since 1969, also living in Wichita and Salina. She had been employed in Sales and a Telephone Switchboard Operator for both Sears and Wal-Mart of Hutchinson, retiring in 1998.

She was a member of the Bahá'í Faith, a former Librarian Assembly member, Past President of the Sherman School PTA, and 4-H.

She married Bill D. Johnston, December 27, 1964 in Almena, KS, he survives of the home.

Other survivors include her son, Thane Johnston, daughter, Tralorna Martin, both of Hutchinson, two brothers; Ray Thompson, PhD., Salisbury, MD, Richard (Dick) Thompson, Almena, KS, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Phyllis.

Graveside services will be 1:30 PM, Tuesday at Eastside Cemetery. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Memorials may be given to Hospice House or the American Diabetes Association in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.
