F. Flora Alsop, 91, of Junction City, formerly of Wakefield, died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Valley View Senior Life in Junction City.

Flora was born April 13, 1925 in Bari, Italy, the daughter of Nicola and Maria (Pisani) Milani. She attended school in Italy, but her education was interrupted by the outbreak of WWII, and she completed it later. After moving to the U.S.A., she attended art classes at Kansas State University. She moved to the U.S.A. in 1946, and settled in Wakefield with her husband after the war was over.

She was a homemaker, but also loved painting, and taught painting classes and also sold paintings. She was a former member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center, but later transferred her membership to St. Xavier Catholic Church in Junction City, which she most recently attended.

Flora married Everett Alsop on Dec. 27, 1944 in Bari, Italy. Everett died August 18, 2000.

Survivors include: a son, Edward Alsop, Lawrence; 2 daughters, AnnaMaria Heard and her husband George, Laramie, Wyo., and Sophie Mallon and her husband John, Emporia; 2 sisters, Marisa Callebresse and Rina Milani, both of Bari, Italy; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

Flora was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jane Minnock; 1 brother; and a sister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2016 at St. Xavier Catholic Church, with Fr. Gale Hammerschmidt presiding.

Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Wakefield.

A visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m, with a Prayer Service followed by Rosary at 7:00 p.m., all at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Xavier Catholic Church, or St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center.
