Mrs. Schneider was born Aug. 8, 1925 in Coal Bluff, Indiana, a daughter of William W. and Margaret Lucas Bonnom. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include a son, Larry Kuykendall; three daughters, Carole Ryan, Donna Krisher and Linda Simpson; a sister, Dorothy Sinclair; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Schneider graduated from Kansas High School and attended Kansas Christian Church. She was a secretary at Kansas schools and Acord's Grain Elevator, established Helen's Greenhouse and later worked for B&G Greenhouse south of Kansas. She moved to Charleston in 1989 and attended Central Christian Church. She was a past Worthy Matron of Order of the Eastern Star, a member of VFW Paul McVey Post 1592 Ladies Auxiliary in Charleston and an eight-year president for the Cougill Apartments Council.
She volunteered for several organizations, including Charleston Area Chamber of Commerce, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center Guild, Eastern Illinois University Tarble Arts Center, Douglas-Hart Nature Center, Charleston public schools, the Peace Meal Program and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She was awarded the Certificate for Outstanding RSVP Volunteer in 1999 by the Illinois Department on Aging.
She enjoyed mushroom hunting and vegetable and flower gardening.
