Karen Ann Mandsager, born 5/6/1940, died at age 73. Karen was an avid genealogist, researching the Priest family, her mother's ancestors, for over twenty years. Her long-range goal was to publish the definitive Priest family history. Karen graduated from high school in Los Angeles. A structured individual with excellent clerical skills, Karen was a legal secretary in an L.A. law firm for twenty-five years.
She loved her work, her friends, and her home town, but a strong 1994 earthquake [Northridge] convinced her mother that the two of them had to move to San Diego.
Karen's father, Ivan Arnold Mandsager was born in Iowa; her mother, Anna Mae Priest was born in Iowa also. Karen died in the apartment she had shared with her mother in San Diego. The ashes of mother and daughter were scattered at sea off the coast of San Diego by the Neptune Society of San Diego by Karen's half siblings.
Karen literally sacrificed her life for her beloved mother.
It was a privilege to know her and to work with her as she traced the Priest family from Virginia to Kentucky, to Indiana, to Wisconsin, to Iowa, and beyond. (Our grandparents were siblings.) Karen contributed to Find-a-Grave, where you may find a great deal of her work.
Death reference: State file number 3052013131843
Local registration number: 3201337011427.
Karen's second cousin, Virginia Hudson Young
