Hilda Wright Goodling, born February 4, 1936, in Hopewell Township, York County, passed away in the arms of her son, Todd, and daughter, Jenni, with her husband, Bill by her side, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening, March 15, 2008, at the home she loved in Seven Valleys. Hilda's passion was teaching children the joy of reading, a passion that carried her through a 50 year career in public elementary education. She began her teaching career in 1955 with a nine year stint in the Dallastown Area School District, followed by 35 years with the York Suburban School District.

Hilda was not a soul who liked to remain at rest. After a 1999 retirement in Pennsylvania, she continued her teaching career for another five years - two years in the Baltimore City School system and three years in the Baltimore County School system, before illness robbed her of the ability to practice the profession she so loved and respected in November of 2007. Hilda received her Bachelors' Degree from West Chester State College and her Masters' Degree from the Pennsylvania State University. She also did graduate work at Millersville University, Shippensburg University, Loyola College, and the University of Phoenix. Hilda was the daughter of Margaret McGinnis Wright and James Wright. She leaves behind her husband, Bill, with whom she celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary on November 23, 2007; adoring and devoted son and daughter, Todd and Jenni; and son-in-law, Christian Engdahl. She is also survived by three sisters, Helen Stewart, Betty Shirey, and Polly Hupper; and a brother, Harry Wright. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Donald Wright.
