Obituary

Beloved husband and father, Carl Francis Hoehn, Jr., 79, of Cullman, AL, formerly of Birmingham, AL, passed away, Saturday, October 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 13 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 217 2nd Street SE, Cullman, Alabama 35055. Reverend Patrick Egan, O.S.B. will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cullman. Visitation will begin Wednesday, October 12 at 6:15 pm at Sacred Heart with a Rosary starting at 7:30 pm with visitation continuing afterwards.

Carl was born April 4, 1937 in Birmingham, Alabama to Carl and Catherine Woodman Hoehn.

He graduated from Ensley High School in 1956 and from the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 1976. On August 31, 1961 he married the former Janice Carol Clements in Birmingham. He was in the United States Army where he was a Military Policeman. This led to his career in law enforcement for over 40 years, three years as a Bessemer City policeman, 25 years as a Detective Sergeant for the City of Birmingham Police Department, and 15 years as a Lieutenant Revenue Enforcement Officer for the Alabama Department of Revenue
Investigations Division.

When he retired, Carl spent many days playing golf with his friends at Cullman Golf Course. He loved living on Smith Lake and spent many days riding on his boat with his family and his dog, Bo. He also enjoyed reading, fishing, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and watching his "Crimson Tide" football team.

Carl is survived by his wife Janice Carol Clements Hoehn of Cullman, AL, and by his three daughters, Catherine Hoehn Wolfe of Atlanta, GA, Cynthia Hoehn Cruce (Tim) of Birmingham, AL, and Carla Hoehn Cole (Emery) of Mountain Brook, AL; seven grandchildren, Trey Wolfe of Atlanta, GA, Melissa, Ryan, Brett, and Emily Cruce of Birmingham, AL, and Carly and Tripp Cole, of Mountain Brook, AL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Catherine Hoehn, his infant son, Carl Francis Hoehn, III, and his brother, James Michael Hoehn.
Carl will be greatly missed by his wife and daughters who he always called his "girls." We love and miss you already daddy!
