Larry Dale Beighton, 74, died Thursday afternoon, January 11, 2007 at Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee as the result of injuries he sustained in a car accident on December 16, 2006.

Larry was born December 31, 1932 in Hancock, Wisconsin to Ross and Ruby (Knapp) Beighton. He attended local schools and enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 for four years. He later enlisted in the US Air Force for four years and served with the US Naval Reserve Seabees, retiring in 1982 after 26 years of total service as a Steelworker First Class.

On January 8, 1958 Larry and Marna L. Swanson were united in marriage in Waukegan, Illinois. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2003.

For more than 34 years Larry was employed in the pottery and brass divisions at Kohler Co., retiring in 1995.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, the Sheboygan Falls Lion's Club, and the Kohler Quarter Century Club.

Larry enjoyed going out to eat at many different local restaurants and became a "regular fixture" at them. Over the years his hobbies included model building and playing cribbage with his friends. Overall, he was a very family oriented man, dedicated to his wife, children and grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Sally (Dennis) Murphy of Chesapeake, Virginia, Lori (Richard) Weyer of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, and Jane (Jonathan) Laughrin of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Samantha Murphy, Tracey and Robyn Weyer, and Kevin Laughrin; two sisters, Betty (Debaldo) Ceci of Rockford, Illinois, and Madelyn Wilson of Hinsdale, Illinois; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Marna, Larry was preceded in death by five brothers, Douglas, Raymond, Lloyd, Darwin, and Billy; and one sister, Virginia.

Larry will always be remembered for the fierce love and protectiveness he held for his family. He will be missed.

Special Memories:

When I was 16 years old I started dating Tom Gilsdorf (also on Find A Grave). Tom's parents were friends with Larry and Marna. Many times on Saturday nights, Tom's parents and Marna and Larry would go out to dinner at various supper clubs. Tom and I liked to go along, because Tom was with his parents, and Marna and Larry "would be my parents." That way we could drink. Tom and I would have an Old Fashioned before dinner and an ice cream drink afterwards (a Pink Squirrel, Brandy Alexander, Grasshopper, Gold Cadillac, etc.). Tom and I thought we were so grown up! The law at that time was, if you were with your parents, you could drink alcohol. Of that fun group of the late 1960s, only I remain.
