Katie graduated from Gouverneur High School in 196 and St. Luke's School of Nursing in Utica in 1949. On August 18, 1950 she was married to Murray Moore Jr and they moved to Rochester NY and Syracuse before returning to Gouverneur in the late 1960's.
Katie Moore worked as a nurse at E. J. Noble hospital in Gouverneur before retiring as the Day Supervisor in December 1990. Her husband died January 18, 1983, only four days after the death of her mother Edna.
Katie was a fantastic gardener and her house was surrounded by beautiful flowers. Every spring she made the rounds of her family markers in the local Gouverneur and Oxbow cemeteries to decorate the graves with flowers and plants. She was the mother of six children, five sons and a daughter. One son, Randy, died before her and the others survived her along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a grand lady, full of life and spunk. She is missed.
