Matthew J. Arvia, age 37 of Griffith, IN, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017. He is survived by his beloved daughters: Madelyn and Natalie Arvia; loving parents: Jim and Cathy (nee Shulke) Arvia; dear sister: Katie Arvia; grandmother: Jeanne Arvia; Uncle and Aunt: Tom and Ronie Arvia; Aunt Kathy Arvia; and best buddy, his dog Duke. Matt was preceded in death by his uncle: Bob Arvia; grandfather: James Arvia; grandparents: Joseph and Dona Shulke; and Uncle Hal Shulke. Matt will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. Matt was a local Stock Car racer and an avid Cubs fan. He was a Foreman for Norfolk and Southern Railroad and coached his daughter's softball teams.
