Great Uncle Jacob Benjamin Edmond's was born to John Augustus Edmond's Jr (1794-1872) and Elisabeth Hoenig-Haney Edmond's (1796-1869). Jacob was one of seventeen children. In 1855 when Jacob was 24 years old he married Elizabeth Foulke (1833-1904). When the Civil war started Jacob was 30 years old, he joined with four of his brothers and enlisted as a volunteer on 5 Aug 1862 with the rank of Second Lieutenant (2Lt), 148th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry, U.S. ( Union) Army. By 8 Sept 1862 he was promoted to Full 1'st Lieutenant, and in 15 Nov 1863 he was promoted again to Full Captain in company C 148'th Penn infantry. Uncle Jacob fought in the battle at Cold Harbor Hanover, Virginia. He died on the battlefield in Petersburg, Virginia. He was shot through the heart defending a weak line, when they recovered his body they found his bible on him and returned it to his wife. The site of his burial is unknown. He died one day before his 33'rd birthday. Sadly he and Elizabeth never had any children and Elizabeth remained a widow until her death in 1904. She was buried in Quaker town in Bucks county Pa.
