Elizabeth Butterfly
A funeral service for Elizabeth (Costello) Butterfly, 70, of Wilton Manors, a former resident of Rutland, who died Wednesday evening at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Butterfly was born in Rutland on Oct. 10, 1917, daughter of Bartley J. and Evelyn (Gammons) Costello. She graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1935. She married Gerald Butterfly in 1942. He died on June 8, 1965. She was employed by New England Telephone Co. in Rutland for several years, moving to Southern Bell Telephone Co. until her retirement. She was a member of Christ the King Church while in Rutland, St. Clements Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale, and Telephone Pioneers of America. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Archie (Elaine) Pecor of Middlebury and Mrs. Asa (Marie) McReynolds of Fort Lauderdale, five brothers, Richard J. Costello and Atty. Bartley J. Costello, both of Rutland, Dr. John L. Costello of Clifton. N.J., Judge Edward J. Costello of Burlington and Joseph F. Costello of Londonderry, N.H.; three sisters, Mrs. Richard (Joan) Morris of Plantation, Mrs. Leonard (Mary) Wing of Rutland and Mrs. Paul (Evelyn) Cunningham of Belmont, several grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the Clifford Funeral Home on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant House, Fort Lauderdale, 33310; or Mount St. Joseph Alumni Association, in care of Mount St. Joseph Academy, Convent Avenue, Rutland. 05701.
