Miguel earned a master's degree in education from Far Eastern University and taught elementary school in the Philippines. He married Aimee (Rabanes?) in December 1953; they had three sons Michael, Mel, Medwin and Marlon, and two daughters Maria and Melody.
Alone Miguel immigrated to the United States in 1967 and later sent for his family. He taught fifth and sixth grades at Pueblo Vista Elementary from 1967 to 1990 where he was known as "Mr. Mon".
Miguel was a member of the Philippine National Red Cross and of the Filipino-American Club where he also served as president. "He was gifted with the ability to talk to anyone, anywhere, and was blessed with many wonderful friends as well as a devoted extended family."
