Fred and his parents (and probably his siblings) moved to California in 1942. He had at least five siblings, Gene, Ernest, Carl, Virgil, and Mary Jo.
In 1948 Fred married Frances Riley in Ceres; they had two children Joyce and Lois.

"Fred J. Evans, 71, passed on from this earth on March 14, 2000, after a short illness. Fred was born in Bergman, Ark., on Oct 17, 1928. Fred's parents came to California in 1942. He married the former Frances Riley in Ceres in 1948. They moved to Yountville in 1951. Fred worked for the County of Napa for 13 years, then became a heavy equipment operator. Fred lived to fish and hunt, and will be greatly missed on Walker Ridge. Chaplain Lee Shaw will officiate the service at Claffey and Rota Funeral Home."
