Lillian T. McHugh died peacefully on Thursday, October 26th in her home in Palm Beach, Florida. She was 82 years of age.
Lillian was born on April 12, 1935 in Lenoir, North Carolina to Mr. and Mrs. Roger B. Triplett. She graduated from Saint Mary's School in Raleigh, North Carolina and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia. In 1957, Lillian married Boyd Fall. Following Mr. Fall's death in 1963, she married her second husband, Brigadier General Godfrey McHugh in 1967, and moved to Washington, D.C. In 1986, Lillian and General McHugh moved to Palm Beach, Florida as full time residents. Lillian was a former member of Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Maryland, The Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C., The Bath and Tennis Club, and The Four Arts Society in Palm Beach.
Husband, Godfrey McHugh, brother, Roger B. Triplett, Jr., and daughter, Katherine Fall McHugh Williams, predeceased Lillian. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Triplett Stewart (John) of Gastonia, North Carolina, her children, Boyd Fall McHugh (Astrid) of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Lillian Fall McHugh Ayers (Tim), of Lewes, Delaware and Palm Beach, Florida, Allison McHugh Bachrodt of Delray Beach, Florida, her grandchildren Carrea Fall Nuez (Jimmy), Tasha Fall, and Morgan Ashley Bachrodt (Brett).
A memorial service will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia to be scheduled. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, www.stjude.org, or the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
