"Edwin Paul Smith, 48, terminal superintendent here for the New York Central and Chesapeake & Ohio Railroads, died after a heart attack at 10:15 a. m. yesterday in his office, 103 N. Preston. The police emergency squad failed to revive him.
Smith, who lived at 718 S. 31st, came to Louisville in 1945. He started with the railroads in 1923 as a yard clerk at Danville, Ill. He later served as yardmaster at Pekin and Urbana, Ill. He was a member of Compass Lodge of Masons and the Transportation Club.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Garnet Smith; two sons, Charles Smith, Pekin, and Howard Smith; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Beckley; two brothers, Howard Smith and Walter Smith, both of South Bend, Ind., and three sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Fisk, Ridge Farm, Ill.; Mrs. Claude Lewsader, Okemos,Mich., and Mrs. Robert Jennings, Dearborn, Mich. Funeral will be at 11 a. m. tomorrow at Pearson's. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery."
