Ruth Jean Daniels, 88, of Albany died Nov. 20,from complications of dementia at Clare Bridge.

She was born in Lewistown, Montana, to John and Alma Greenslit Sherman.

Ruth lived in Vernonia before moving to Albany where she graduated from Albany High School. She met Bob in 1952 and they were married in 1953.

Ruth and Bob lived in southern Idaho for a short while where their daughters, Darca and Terri where born. They moved to Albany in 1962 where she worked for Wah Chang and then Simpson Timber Company as a secretary. While she worked for Simpson Timber she earned her certification to become a certified professional secretary. She was quite proud of this achievement.

In 1976, Ruth and Bob moved to Charbonneau near Wilsonville. Ruth retired from the Oregon Education Association. They lived at Charbonneau for over 30 years and enjoyed their time playing lots of golf with family and friends. After retirement Ruth and Bob moved to Salem then to Albany where Bob continues to live. Ruth was an excellent cook and loved to entertain. She always had a smile and a warm greeting to those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Daniels; daughters Darca (Steve) Anderson and Terri Daniels; grandchildren Erik and Neva Anderson, and Peter and Melody Anderson; and great-grandchildren, Case (2 months), Leah (6) and Zach Anderson (3). Ruth’s family was an AFS host family to Sue Carter from New Zealand from 1971-1972, and to Maria Rosa Arena from Paraguay from 1974-1975.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alma Sherman; sister Luella Rogers; and son-in-law Curtis Knowles.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the United Presbyterian Church, 330 S.W. Fifth Ave., Albany.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church.
