RICHARD SHEBLER CALLED TO REWARD
Veteran Grain Buyer of Davenport Dies at His Home.
Richard C.E. Schebler, the veteran grain buyer and one of the well known and most highly respected citizens of Davenport, died at 12:30 o’clock, midnight, at his home, 1217 West Seventh street, at the age of 68 years.
Mr. Schebler’s death will occasion universal sorrow among his large following of friends and acquaintances, for he was generally beloved by all. He was born in Steinfeld, Unter Franken, Bavaria, Germany, April 3, 1843, and came to the United States with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Schebler, in 1855. He was 13 years of age at that time. The family came direct to Davenport, and this city has been their home ever since.
In 1865 Mr. Schebler was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Clifford, who passed this life in 1896. For 48 years Mr. Schebler followed the occupation of grain buyer, and made his headquarters on Harrison street. He had a reputation for fairness and honesty which made it a pleasure for farmers to transact business with him. He was a brother to the late Frank Schebler, who died in August, 1910.
The immediate survivors are a son Leo and a daughter Mary, both residing at home. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
