Enlisted, April 16, 1917, in Medical Department. 1st Cavalry Regiment, NYNG, Brooklyn, NY. The 1st NY Cavalry reorganized for the World War as the 104th & 106th Machine Gun Battalions, 27th Division. He was transfer for a short time to the, San Det, 12th NY Infantry Regiment, then to Company D, then Company B, 104th Machine Gun Battalion.

After training at Camp Wadsworth, SC, the 104th Machine Gun Battalion shipped out for Europe, May 17, 1918, from Newport News, VA. He saw combat in both Belgium & France. He died of broncho pneumonia, February 13, 1919, France.
