Mrs. Jewell Elzina Blevins, age 77, of Asbury, Missouri passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Communities of Wildwood Ranch.

Mrs. Blevins was born April 11, 1940 in Delavan, Kansas to Ralph Frownfelter and Oma (Crisp) Frownfelter.

She was a Home Economics teacher, first at Carthage Jr High School and then at Carl Junction High School until retirement. She graduated from Webb City High School in 1958 and then attended Joplin Junior College, subsequently graduating from Pittsburg State College. She later received her Master's degree at Southwest Baptist University.

She married John Alvis Blevins on August 26, 1962 in Jasper County, Missouri. They were married for 55 years. They had two daughters, Aleta and Sharon.

Jewell was a member of the Asbury Baptist Church where she was the church pianist and a Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed sewing, painting, cooking, gardening, bird watching and being with her grandchildren.

Survivors include husband, John Blevins of Asbury; daughter, Aleta Greathouse, husband Phil, and granddaughters Emma and Tessa of Joplin; daughter, Sharon Gloyer, husband Phil, and grandsons Pierce and Jackson of Joplin; sister, Garnet Frownfelter of Webb City; sister, Olivene Nichols of Carl Junction; sister, Opal Frownfelter, and her companion Robert Green of Airport Drive; and sister-in-law, Frances Dodd of Asbury.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1975, and her mother in 2005.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 19, 2018, between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Simpson Funeral Home in Carl Junction.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the Simpson Funeral Home in Carl Junction, with burial to follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.
