Linda was born August 3, 1943 in Garrison, ND, the daughter of Albert and Emelia (Henne) Engel. She was raised and educated in Garrison, ND and graduated from Garrison High School in 1961. Linda married Jerry Ash on July 15, 1962 in Garrison. They lived in Garrison and then Underwood before moving to the family farm eight miles west of Underwood in 1969. Linda was a homemaker for many years before beginning a career with North American Coal Corp at the Falkirk Mine. Linda retired from the mine after 20 years of employment. Linda and Jerry then moved to Bismarck where she enjoyed working part time in retail for fun.
Linda loved to travel, especially to her favorite destination of Hawaii where she and Jerry made lots of special memories. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family which she adored. Eventually her health prevented her from working and traveling as much as she would have liked so she started new hobbies like painting. She also loved to sing and take photos. Linda was a long time member of the Riverdale Community Church.
