Thomas “Tom” Gregway, age 76, of Merritt Island, Florida, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 25, 1941. Tom met his wife, Shirley Schnute, while working at Frank’s Nursery in Detroit. They were married for 52 years. Tom and Shirley relocated to Florida in 1989.

Tom served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. He also served in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was trained as a Lineman, Field Communications Crewman after graduating from the U.S. Army Southeastern Signal School with honors. He was also awarded the National Defense Service Medal as a sharpshooter and was selected for the Colonel’s Orderly.

After serving his country, Tom worked in industrial glove sales in Michigan. Upon moving to Florida, he worked primarily in real estate with his most recent employment at Realty 2000 One. Tom loved his favorite dog “Scout,” cartooning, nature, carpentry, renovating properties, landscaping, music (especially instrumental), singing, and known for his whistling! Most importantly, Tom loved to take care of everyone around him.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Gregway of Merritt Island, Florida and cousin Shirley Bergman who is “like a sister.” Predeceased by his mother Ethel Gregway and father Ernest Gregway; sister Sally Radcliffe and brother-in-law Richard Radcliffe, sister Sue Gregway, and brother Don Gregway.

A funeral service will be held at Florida Memorial Funeral Home, 5959 South US1 Rockledge, Florida 32955, on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:30am. The family will receive friends and family for visitation at 10:30am until the time of service at 11:30pm. Burial will take place following the service at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US Highway 1 North, Mims, Florida 32754.
