Layne, 75, of Eaton Rapids, passed away surrounded by her loving family, February 25, 2018. She was born in Douglas, MI, the daughter of Delford and Phyllis (Herrick) Hasty.

As a young girl, Renee’ tap danced and in her high school years, she was a cheerleader, graduating from Eaton Rapids High School in 1960. Renee enjoyed bowling, volunteering at Heart and Hands, country line dancing, reading and working on crossword puzzles.

Her life revolved around their family farm, her children, grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Renee will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Renee's family would like to thank all of the people at Eaton Community Palliative Care for the tender loving attention given to her.

She is survived by her children, Heidi (John) McGarry of Eaton Rapids, Derrick (Jackie) Hartenburg of Eaton Rapids, Heather (Paul) DeRose of Lansing; grandchildren, Molly Renee McGarry of Eaton Rapids, Megan Rose McGarry of Eaton Rapids, Katelyn Renee’ DeRose of Lansing, Jerry Lute Hartenburg of Eaton Rapids;
siblings, Claudia Whitaker of Eaton Rapids, Delford Hasty of Fowlerville, Paige (Gary) Richardson of Eaton Rapids, Susan Perrone of Ludington; brother-in-law, Vern (Diane) Hartenburg of Lakeside, OH; sister-in-law, Audrey Hartenburg; several nieces and nephews.

Renee was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry L. Hartenburg in 1990; parents; brother, Jan Hasty.

Funeral services were Saturday March 3, 2018 at Robbins United Methodist Church, Eaton Rapids. Interment followed in Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care, Charlotte, MI or Heart and Hands, Eaton Rapids, MI.
